“Ohio State Parks on the Air”, Saturday, September 8

The eleventh running of the Ohio State Parks on the Air (OSPOTA) event is this Saturday, September 8.

OSPOTA is a low-pressure, fun, field event, the goal of which is to work stations in as many Ohio State Parks as one can. This is a HF-only, SSB-only event and is a perfect opportunity for newer hams or those without much experience on HF to “get their feet wet”.

Members of the ACARA will be activating three State Parks this year. The ACARA as a group will activate Strouds Run State Park as W8UKE. Operating under their own callsigns, Jeff Slattery, N8SUZ, will activate Jackson Lake State Park and Robert Riordan, KA4VNK, will activate Forked Run State Park.

All ACARA members are invited to participate in the activation of Strouds Run State Park. The activation will take place at the Bulldog Shelter on Strouds Run Road. Set-up will commence about 10am and operations will run until 6pm. Anyone who wishes to may operate using the club’s callsign.

In 2016 and in 2017, the ACARA won their class. Can the ACARA again win in 2018?

At 5pm, all members and their guests are invited to a cookout at the Bulldog Shelter. The ACARA will provide a propane grill; bring yourself something to grill and something to share and join us for a relaxed evening as the contest winds down.
