ACARA will participate in Ohio State Parks on the Air (OSPOTA) on Saturday, September 6, 2025.
OSPOTA is an annual field operating event wherein participants try to work stations at as many Ohio State Parks as they can. The event runs from 10am until 6pm.
The ACARA operation will take place at Strouds Run State Park’s Bulldog Shelter (map). Station set-up will begin at 9am. Operations will commence at 10am and will continue until the potluck at 5pm.
Operations on SSB and CW will take place using the club callsign, W8UKE, and we will use the club’s Elecraft K3 transceiver and a selection of antennas.
Because operation will take place using the club callsign, anyone who wants to may operate. In addition, following the event, the logs will also be submitted to Parks on the Air (POTA), so all operators who are registered within POTA will get credit for their QSOs for POTA.
At 5pm, operations will cease (or, at least, slow down) and members and guests will enjoy a club pot-luck. All club members and guests are invited to the potluck, whether or not they participated in OSPOTA, and are asked to bring a dish to share and their own beverage and table-service. A propane camp-grill will be available for those who need to cook or re-heat anything.
