ACARA takes 1st-place in class in Ohio State Parks on the Air 2017!

The results of the 2017 Ohio State Parks on the Air (OSPOTA) operating event have been published and, as expected, the ACARA’s effort at Strouds Run State Park did very well. The ACARA earned 7,725 points operating as W8UKE at Strouds Run State Park and this score earned the ACARA first place in “Multi Op-Single Radio-Low Power In a Park” class; this was 3,696 points more than the second-place finisher in the class earned!

Thanks go to Jim Crouse, KC8OVB, for reserving the Bulldog Shelter; to Robert Riordan, KA4VNK, for serving as OSPOTA Captain and for providing the HF rig; to operators Robert Riordan, KA4VNK, Josh Cash, KE8EAS, Tony Milluzzi, KD8RTT, Kevin Croissant, KE8HRK, and Brynn Riordan, KD8JDH; to Miles McFadden, KD8KNC, for cooking; and to everyone who helped with set-up and tear-down.

Jeff Slattery, N8SUZ, activated Jackson Lake State Park using his own call and his score of 1,243 points earned him eighth place in the “Single-Op Low Power In a Park” class.
