The ACARA will participate in the annual Winter Field Day (WFD) event on Saturday, January 29 and Sunday, January 30, 2022, at the Jim Crouse Memorial Radio Station at the Red Crouse of Southeastern Ohio, 100 South May Avenue, Athens.
WFD runs for 24 hours from 1900 UTC Saturday, January 29 through 1900 UTC Sunday, January 30. That is, from 2pm Saturday to 2pm Sunday local time. The ACARA will limit participation to two smaller windows during this 24 hour period: 2pm to 8pm Saturday and 9am to 2pm Sunday.
Full WFD rules can be found here: https://www.winterfieldday.com/
The ACARA will operate as W8UKE and will participate in WFD in class “1” because we will have only one transmitter in operation and in the category “Home” because the Jim Crouse Memorial Radio station is an already-existing station. We will operate using SSB, CW, and perhaps Digital using the club’s Elecraft K3 transceiver.
Any ACARA member or guest may operate the club station as W8UKE during WFD regardless of license class. Experienced operators will be on-hand to help those who need it.
Because of the continuing COVID-19 situation, we will be required to wear masks while inside the Red Cross of Southeastern Ohio building and to maintain social distancing when we are able to.
Please join us this weekend for WFD!
