The ACARA will participate in the annual Winter Field Day (WFD) event on Saturday, January 28 and Sunday, January 29, 2023, at the Jim Crouse Memorial Radio Station at the Red Cross of Southeastern Ohio, 100 South May Avenue, Athens.
WFD runs for 24 hours from 1900 UTC Saturday, January 28 through 1859 UTC Sunday, January 29. That is, from 2pm Saturday to 1:59pm Sunday local time.
Full WFD rules can be found here: https://www.winterfieldday.com/
The ACARA’s WFD Captain this year is Drew McDaniel, W8MHV, and the ACARA will be operating around-the-clock for the full 24 hours of the event.
The ACARA will participate in WFD in class “1” because we will have only one transmitter in operation at a time, and in the category “Indoor” because the Jim Crouse Memorial Radio station is in an “insulated, weather-protected building or structure on a permanent foundation”. We will operate SSB and CW using the club’s Elecraft K3 transceiver, and we will operate digital modes using the IC-7300 transceiver of Paul Schulz, WD8SCV.
Any ACARA member or guest may operate the club’s station during WFD regardless of license class. Experienced operators will be on-hand to help those who need it.
Please join us this weekend for WFD!
