Save the date! On Saturday, September 7, the ACARA will be participating in the annual “Ohio State Parks on the Air” (http://ospota.org/) field event at Strouds Run State Park. The ACARA participated in the largest operating event in the Amateur Radio calendar, ARRL Field Day, on Saturday and Sunday, June 22-23, 2019, at the Athens County Fairgrounds. The biggest operating event in the amateur radio calendar is almost upon us! The ARRL Field Day is Saturday & Sunday, June 22-23, 2019. The ACARA will be participating in Class 1A at the Athens County Fairgrounds (map) with one HF station and one 6m VHF station. Five ACARA members participated in Winter Field Day 2019 at the recently updated amateur radio station at the Red Cross of Southeastern Ohio chapterhouse in Athens on Saturday, January 26. Over a period of about seven hours, a total of 61 contacts were made by Josh Cash, KE8EAS; Eric McFadden, WD8RIF; and Jeff Slattery, N8SUZ. Josh and Eric operated CW and Jeff operated SSB. The NC8V Memorial Trophy is presented annually to the ACARA member with the highest score in the ARRL 10-Meter Contest in recognition of the life and accomplishments of past-member John Cornwell, NC8V (SK).
