Mark your calendars!
ARRL Field Day, the biggest operating event in the Amateur Radio calendar, is Saturday and Sunday, June 23 and 24. The ACARA will be participating at the Athens County Fairgrounds with one HF CW/SSB station, one 6-meter SSB station, and one FM satellite station.
Set-up will commence at 10am on Saturday the 23rd. Radio operations will run ’round-the-clock from 2pm Saturday through 2pm Sunday the 24th. Tear-down will commence at 2pm on Sunday.
Miles McFadden, KD8KNC, will be providing Saturday supper, Sunday breakfast, and Sunday lunch to anyone at the Field Day site for donations.
We need people to help set up the stations and to tear down the stations, and we need operators!
The Educational Bonus activity will be “Improving 2-Meter HT Performance in Pedestrian-Mobile Applications”. Bring your HT and we’ll help you make a “tiger tail” antenna for it!
If you need proof that Field Day is fun, visit the report with photos of Field Day 2017.
Update: The Athens County 9-1-1 Center’s mobile crank-up tower is in place and deployed:
